News from the Overlord

As you may have heard, Angry Robot is making the move from the cosy town of Nottingham to the bright lights of London, where we’ll be joining the Watkins Media mothership. Whilst this is a big change, we feel confident that AR will continue to thrive and deliver the same amazing sci-fi and wtf fiction that you know and love from our new home.

Additionally, a new robot – Gemma Creffield – has joined the ranks as Publicity and Editorial Co-Ordinator. Gemma has worked as a publicist for Watkins Media for several years, creating and driving successful campaigns across their

Festive Angstroms for All

Twas the week before Christmas and all through the base
Not a creature was stirring…

…Except for our Nick that is, who was running around stringing up festive entrails disguised as decorations. Alas, the smell got a bit too much for bipedal carbon-based marketing manager Mike, who demanded that we string up something that hadn’t in a former life been, well… strung up.

Never ones to upset others over the festive period we decided to heed Mike’s

All things Fantasycon and the winning of lovely awards

bfs_1Sorry to report but the Robots are a little rust-tinged and creaky this morning, as we attempt to kickstart ailing battery packs back to life after a splendid weekend at the UK Fantasycon, organised by the British Fantasy Society. Held in the once-majestic shambolic splendour of the Grand Hotel in Scarborough, a combination of wonderful people, fine autumnal seaside weather and us winning the Best Independent Publisher 2016 award made for a

Not that we’d recommend everyone submits this way…

Or, here’s how we signed up Jeff Noon’s amazing A Man of Shadows through the magical power of Twitter…

Picture the scene: it was March 3rd, a perfectly ordinary Thursday here on planet Earth. All of a sudden there was a ping on my Twitter feed, as a tweet mentioning my name turned in my notifications. This is what it said:

New Metal

NickTylerHail Robots,

You may have seen rumblings that we were looking for a new editorial assistant to take over some of the day-to-day running of the orbital death platform – organising the puny meatbags for sacrifice, polishing our vast, gleaming control panel…you know, that kind of thing.

We set up a very cunning trap that involved a pulley system, cage, shiny things and some books and are delighted to announce that we managed to catch one. It’s this
