More Awards Love at the Kitschies

tumblr_static_kraken_galleon-100pxYou know that we love our books, and we know that you love our books (awwww, isn’t this sweet!). It’s also very gratifying when we’re told that awards committees also love our books.

The shortlists of the Kitschies Awards have just been announced, and Angry Robot are once again represented.

The Kitschies is an annual prize for books containing elements of the “speculative and fantastic” for the most “progressive, intelligent and entertaining fiction” published in the previous year.

The shortlists are listed in full, below, but a shout-out to our nominees

Peacemaker – Most Anticipated

Peacemaker by Marianne de PierresWe love Buzzfeed. Well, how could we not love a site with wtf as one of their menu options? And a couple of days ago they published their 19 Most Anticipated Science Fiction and Fantasy Books For 2014 list (no mere Best 10 for them, puny mortals!)

Festive Competition: The Winners

Happy Monday, one and all!

Last week we ran a competition asking you to change our titles into something a bit more festive, and this was no challenge for you lot! We had quite the range of answers, some made us laugh and others groan with the cheese factor, but we did enjoy reading them. It was no easy decision but there must be a winner…but before that, here’s a reminder of the prize:

Robot Round-Up 06/12/13

Hey folks, today’s Robot Round-Up is a celebration of January 2014’s coming titles, and we have two exciting books to share with you! First up, the much anticipated The Cormorant, the third in Chuck Wendig’s fantastic Miriam Black series. Readers of the first two books loved the dark, punchy style (“fast, ferocious, sharp as a switchblade and fucking fantastic” – Lauren Beukes, author of Zoo City and The Shining Girls) and I can’t wait to see what you all think of the third book. Team Robot Blogger Award

As most of you are probably aware, we here at Robot HQ adore our blogs, bloggers, readers of blogs, and all things related. We really appreciate everything they do to help us promote our books, authors, and indeed Angry Robot, Strange Chemistry, and Exhibit A. With today being Thanksgiving, we thought it was the perfect time to announce our Team Robot Blogger Award. We want to give back to those bloggers who work tirelessly, for no financial gain, and in their own free time, to read more books than we can even publish, and spread the word

Cover Reveal: Last God Standing

Creator. Ruler. Stand-up Comic…

We’ve been super excited about Michael Boatman‘s Last God Standing since we first read it in acquisitions, and even more so after we were able to shout loud and proud about our latest author, but the excitement levels are pretty high now with this cover. Last God Standing is the “ultimate in divine comedy” and we’re eagerly awaiting its release next year! But less of me, and more of the cover:

Boosh! Angry Robot book sharing (for free!) in the UK and Ireland

Due to our history of innovation we’re often contacted by start-up companies in the publishing realm (I love the word “realm”, don’t you? realm, realm, realm…) *ahem* Sometimes these companies bring us pie-in-the-sky ideas, or rehashes of things that exist elsewhere, but sometimes, just sometimes, we hear from someone with a really interesting idea.

Evanidus was one such company.Boosh

Evanidus are in the process of launching a new service called Boosh – it stands for Booshare, and it’s a way to spread the love of an ebook you’ve enjoyed by sharing it with

WIN STUFF: Friday 13th Giveaway

Not that I am in anyway superstitious (only when it comes to the order of which I put on my football gear. Oh, and magpies. And not putting new shoes on a table. And fairy forts, or single trees in fields, and it just makes sense to cross a river if you’re being chased by evil spirits – of course they can’t reach you then) BUT IF I WAS, Friday 13th might not be my favourite day.

So how’s about Angry Robot make Friday 13th a lucky day? To win 13 of our titles, all you have to do is

Introducing : Clonefiles USA

This past weekend at The World Science Fiction Convention in San Antonio, Texas, we announced the launch of Clonefiles in the USA.

Clonefiles is a programme where you buy the paperback from a participating independent bookstore, and get the ebook absolutely free!

This was trialled in the UK last year, and the success of the pilot has encouraged us to do the same in the USA.

It’s also gratifying to see that the giants still follow where Angry Robot innovates… 😀

More details of the US Clonefiles initiative to follow, very soon…
