A rare job opportunity has popped up in the rights team at Angry Robot HQ in London!

Our parent company Watkins Media is seeking a full-time Rights Executive to help bring the fantastic books produced by its four distinct imprints (including Angry Robot) to all corners of the globe.

This role has a salary range of £22,00–£24,500 per annum, dependent on experience.
The Watkins Media imprints are:
  • Angry Robot Books (your favourite award-winning purveyors of SF, F, and WTF?!)
  • Watkins (a leading publisher of personal development and mind, body, spirit books)
  • Nourish Books (focusing on wellbeing and healthy cookery)
  • and Repeater (specialising in radical politics, fiction and philosophy)

You will be responsible for prospecting and selling foreign rights and co-editions on assigned territories directly or through co-agents to reach targets. You will be responsible for managing your relationships with existing customers and finding new ones. You will work closely with the Rights Manager, organising and attending book fairs and preparing rights guides and newsletters.

You will work with the editorial team and develop new opportunities for rights sales across the list. You will liaise with the production department to fulfil co-edition orders and will be expected to go on 3-4 foreign trips per year.

You should have previous experience of co-editions, negotiation and sales of licenses, (including drafting contracts, invoicing and following-up on payments) and the ability to work independently. You will need excellent communication and organisational skills, along with the ability to prioritise, and work well under pressure. Experience with Biblio, Bradbury Philips, That’s Rights, Excel, InDesign, and SAGE would also be an advantage. A willingness to learn and to take instruction well, along with enthusiasm and a sunny disposition will also be appreciated.
