Freebie Monday – Sixty-One Nails for your Kindle, and an audio sampler of Moxyland

By

Now, this is a special deal!

We’ve teamed up with Amazon US to offer Kindle users the chance to get Mike Shevdon’s critically-acclaimed (and hugely entertaining) Sixty-One Nails for free! This offer only lasts today (Monday 27th September), so hurry! (Note: this offer is restricted to readers in the US).

Just look what people have said about this superb urban fantasy:

Sixty-One Nails is Neverwhere for the next generation. The pacing is spot-on, the characters engaging, and the world fits together beautifully to create a London that ought to be. I stayed up too late finishing it.”
C.E. Murphy

“Mike Shevdon strikes sparks from the flinty core of English folklore, as a hero every reader can relate to finds he’s part of an incredible and scarily believable parallel realm. If you’ve been thinking urban fantasy has nothing fresh to offer, think again.”
— Juliet E. McKenna

“Mike Shevdon in this first novel gave me just what I need: main characters that I feel for, care about and could get invested in. Thanks for something new, sir, that has renewed my faith in modern fantasy. Oh, and he adds in some real London history here and there, and that is a great thing too. I can’t wait for the next book.”
— Deadwood Reviews

“Sixty One Nails is a novel I will remember for a very long time. 5*****”
— SF Book.com

“Here is the very best of urban fantasy… A highly-believable page-turner of a quest.”
— Aurealis Magazine

Honestly – we could go on, but we’re pretty sure you’d rather go read the book.

And while you’re there, why not pick up a copy of the sequel, The Road to Bedlam – at the time of writing, Amazon have it on sale for the great price of just $3.99!

As I suspected:

” This title is not available for customers from your location in:
Europe”

Not the first time this happens and IT SUCKS.

E-book buying should be easy and painless, but these restrictions are really hurting the users and eventually will hurt the business.

Sad, really sad

PS: I know it is not your fault, but may be you are in position to do something about it.

Thanks for your comment, Odo.

The US Amazon Kindle offer is partly to celebrate our long-awaited launch in the States. Sixty-One Nails has been available to buy in the UK for about a year.

We often run competitions and giveaways on our own site, but we’re equally happy for bookshops to run their own promotions, which is what Amazon US are doing.

But we’re certainly aware of the current disconnect between different countries offering different books at different times. In the not too distant future you’ll see that all our books are offered for sale internationally simultaneously, with the eBook coming out as soon as the first hardcopy book is available.

Thanks for the answer. What seems striking to me is the I CAN buy paper books fro Amazon US with no problem but I can’t buy e-books. A strange business model with artificial restrictions, I think.

Anyway, as I said, it’s not your fault.

Keep the good work. I own several of your books already and have some others pre-ordered (via The Book Depository US, by the way).

Best,

Odo

Ahem, Lee, you passed up the perfect opportunity to punt the AngryRobotStore.com which sells Angry Robot e-books with NO geo-restrictions or DRM.
